How to Choose or Change Your Business Type

Summary

Overview: Your business type tells Pippin how to work your leads and decides whether your workspace uses quotes. There are three types: Travel Agency, B2B - Appointment Setting and B2B - Closing Deals. In the setup wizard, Pippin works out your type for you (and asks when it isn't sure). You can change it at any time in Settings › Business type.

Prerequisites:

• You are the workspace Admin.
• Before you switch to B2B - Appointment Setting, finish or follow up any open quotes. They are hidden after the switch.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Know what each type does

If you haven't written your own mission for Pippin, Pippin follows the built-in instructions for your business type. See How to Write Pippin's Mission.

Step 2: Check it in the setup wizard

1. In the wizard, Pippin reads your website (or, without one, your knowledge files) and sets your type. The Business type line in the setup list on the right shows the type, for example Travel agency, and how sure Pippin is, for example Pippin is 97% sure.
2. If Pippin isn't sure, the line shows Needs you and a Business type card opens on the last step. Click the type that fits; Pippin's best guesses show first with a percentage.
3. To change a type Pippin set, click Change on the Business type line, pick Travel Agency, B2B - Appointment Setting or B2B - Closing Deals, and click Save.
4. After a change, Pippin rebuilds your lead scoring, guidance rules and follow-ups for the new type. Moving to a B2B type also sets How Pippin quotes back to Catalog. See How to Complete the Setup Wizard.

Step 3: Change it later in Settings

1. Click Settings › Business type in the left menu. The Business type page shows one card per type. Each card says what the type turns on: Turns on: quotes, including costed travel quotes (Travel Agency), Turns on: meeting booking. Quotes are hidden (B2B - Appointment Setting) or Turns on: quotes (B2B - Closing Deals).
2. Your current type is marked Current. Click the card of the type you want.
3. A confirmation window opens: Switch to the new type**?**
   • Moving to B2B - Appointment Setting: "Switching to B2B - Appointment Setting will hide the Quotes section, quote-related KPIs, and quote options from Lead profiles across the entire app." If you have open quotes, it also says how many "will no longer be accessible from the UI."
   • Moving from B2B - Appointment Setting to a quote type: it says quote features will be turned back on.
   • Moving between Travel Agency and B2B - Closing Deals: "This changes how the AI engages with your leads."
4. Click Switch to switch, or Cancel to keep your current type.
5. You see "Business type updated."
6. If you move from Travel Agency to a B2B type while Pippin quotes with Costed, your quoting goes back to Catalog: costed quoting is for travel agencies only. If you switch back to Travel Agency later, choose Costed again in Settings › AI Studio › Quotes.

Step 4 (optional): Ask Pippify Coach

1. Open Pippify Coach and ask it to change your business type.
2. Coach shows the change as a Proposed change. Click Apply to make the change, or Dismiss to keep your current type. See How to Apply or Dismiss a Change Coach Suggests.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

• Settings › Business type shows Current on the new type.
• For B2B - Appointment Setting, Quotes is gone from the left menu and from lead profiles.
• For Travel Agency or B2B - Closing Deals, Quotes appears in the left menu.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

• "Something went wrong. Please try again.": the change didn't save. Fix: click the type again and confirm.
• "Could not save this change. Please try again." or "Could not save your answer. Please try again." (setup wizard): Fix: pick the type again.
• My quotes disappeared: your workspace is on B2B - Appointment Setting. Fix: switch back to Travel Agency or B2B - Closing Deals. Switching doesn't delete quotes; they show again after you switch back.

Limitations & considerations

• The business type applies to the whole workspace and every role.
• The Rates tab in AI Studio only shows for Travel Agency.
• The Quotes tab in AI Studio shows for every business type, but its quote defaults are used only when your business type sends quotes. The Catalog / Costed choice shows only for Travel Agency.
• Before you change the type through Coach, check Quotes for open quotes. A change through Coach also turns costed quoting back to catalog when you leave Travel Agency.
