How to Connect Google Drive

Summary

Overview: Connect your Google Drive so you can import files and whole folders into Pippin's knowledge. Pippify reads your Drive but imports only the files and folders you pick.

Prerequisites:

  • You are the Admin of the workspace.
  • You have a Google account with the files you want Pippin to learn from.
  • Your browser allows pop-ups for Pippify (Google's sign-in opens in a pop-up window).

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Google Drive card

You can connect from either of two places:

From Connectors

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings › Connectors.
  2. Click the Knowledge category button under the page title. (The page opens on Calendar.)
  3. The Google Drive card shows Not connected and "Import knowledge from Google Drive: pick files or whole folders."

From AI Studio

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings › AI Studio. The Knowledge tab opens.
  2. Click Add Knowledge, then the Google Drive tab.
  3. You see "Pick files or whole folders from Google Drive. Pippify imports only what you pick."

Step 2: Sign in to Google

  1. Click Connect Google Drive. A Google pop-up opens and the button shows Waiting for Google….
  2. Choose your Google account.
  3. On Google's consent screen, allow Pippify to see your Google Drive files. Leave every box ticked.
  4. The pop-up closes when you're done.

Step 3: Check the connection

  • On the Connectors card, you see Connected and "Connected as [your email]. Pick files or folders in AI Studio > Knowledge > Add Knowledge > Google Drive."
  • On the AI Studio Knowledge tab, the Google Drive tile in the status strip shows Connected and your email.

Disconnect Google Drive

  1. Open Settings › Connectors and click the Knowledge category button.
  2. Click Disconnect on the Google Drive card.
  3. Read "Disconnect Google Drive? Pippify will stop reading your Drive. Documents you already imported stay in your knowledge base."
  4. Click Yes, Disconnect, or Cancel to keep it.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • The Google Drive card shows Connected and the right Google account, and the Knowledge category button has a dot.
  • In Add Knowledge › Google Drive, you see Connected as [your email] and the button Choose files or folders from Google Drive.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Your browser blocked the sign-in popup. Please allow popups for this site and try again.": Fix: allow pop-ups for Pippify in your browser, then click Connect Google Drive again.
  • "Google Drive connection was cancelled.": you closed or declined Google's screen. Fix: connect again and allow access.
  • "Google Drive access was not granted. Connect again and allow Pippify to see your Drive files.": you unticked Drive access on Google's screen. Fix: connect again and leave Drive access ticked.
  • "Google did not grant offline access. Connect again and allow access.": Fix: connect again and allow everything Google asks for.
  • "Google Drive connection timed out. Please try again.": the pop-up stayed open too long. Fix: click Connect Google Drive again and finish sooner.
  • "Something went wrong connecting Google Drive. Please try again." or "Could not start the Google Drive connection. Please try again.": Fix: try again.
  • "Couldn't check your Google Drive connection. Please refresh and try again." (the card shows Couldn't check): Fix: refresh the page.
  • "Google Drive is not available yet.": Google Drive import is not available for your workspace. Fix: contact support.
  • The card shows Reconnect needed: see Why Does Google Drive Say Reconnect Needed?

Limitations & considerations

  • One Google account per workspace. If you reconnect with a different Google account, Pippify forgets the folders you picked under the old account. Documents you already imported stay.
  • Disconnecting does not delete imported documents. Delete them yourself in AI Studio if you no longer want Pippin to use them.
  • Pippify does not pick up Drive changes on its own. Use Re-sync from Drive to bring in edits and new files.
