Summary
Overview: Coach helps you make Pippin's replies sound more like your business. It explains the difference between the mission, guidance rules and brand voice, reads what you have set, and prepares changes for the Admin to apply.
Prerequisites:
- Access to Pippify Coach.
- To apply changes, you must be the Admin.
How Coach Decides
- Coach first reads what is saved now: your brand voice, mission, guidance rules and business details.
- It picks the right place for each kind of change:
- Mission: the overall job you give Pippin, in plain words. When set, it replaces the built-in template for your business type in every reply.
- Guidance rules: specific standing instructions, such as "always mention our free airport pickup". Each rule has a title, an instruction, a category, an on/off switch and the channels it applies to.
- Brand voice: style only, such as tone, formality, bullet points, traits, opening and closing phrases, words to avoid and answer length.
- It prepares one Proposed change card per change, showing only the fields that change.
- If a value breaks a rule (for example, a mission that is too long), Coach fixes it or tells you what the limit is.
- If you are not the Admin, Coach explains the change and says an Admin must make it.
Limits
- Only the Admin can apply changes.
- The mission can be up to 1,500 characters. Clearing the mission sends Pippin back to the built-in template for your business type.
- Coach can add guidance rules for any channel. In AI Studio, you can't choose Messenger or web chat as a rule's channel.
- Coach adds, edits or removes one guidance rule or one lead attribute at a time. To generate a full set of attributes at once, use Generate from KB in Settings › AI Studio › Attributes.
- Brand voice settings shape every reply Pippin writes, follow-up sequence messages and the quotes it drafts, not only AI intros. See How to Set Pippin's Tone of Voice.
- Coach cannot change your logo.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Ask Coach about your replies
- Open Pippify Coach.
- Click the Improve my replies card. Coach sends "How can I make the replies my AI sends sound more like us?"
- Or ask something specific, such as "What is the difference between mission, guidance rules, and brand voice?" (the How does Pippify work? card sends this question).
Step 2: Ask for a specific change
Describe what you want. Examples:
- "Write a mission for a Cebu tour operator that books private island-hopping trips."
- "Add a guidance rule: always mention that prices are per person."
- "Make our tone friendly and keep answers concise."
- "Add 'cheap' to the words to avoid."
Step 3: Review and apply
- Read the Proposed change card. Check each value before and after the arrow.
- If you are the Admin, click Apply. Otherwise, ask your Admin to apply it.
- To try different wording, tell Coach what to change. It prepares a new card.
Step 4: Test the result
- Go to Settings › AI Studio and click Test Pippin to see how Pippin now replies. See How to Test Pippin Before Going Live.
Verify It Worked
Success criteria:
- The card shows Applied.
- The new mission, guidance rule, tone or voice setting appears in Settings › AI Studio.
- New replies from Pippin follow the change.
Troubleshooting
Common errors
- Coach says only the Admin can make the change: you are not the Admin. Fix: ask your Admin to apply the change.
- "That change couldn't be applied. Try asking Coach again.": the save was refused. Fix: ask Coach again, or make the change in Settings › AI Studio.
- "These settings changed since this was proposed — ask Coach again.": someone edited the same settings after the card was made. Fix: ask Coach again.
Limitations & considerations
- A mission replaces the built-in template, so write it carefully. Coach can draft it, but you decide what is applied.
- Tone must be one of the five tones in Settings › AI Studio. If you describe a tone in other words (for example "formal"), Coach picks the closest one, and the card shows which.
