Summary
Overview: Subscribe to Starter, Growth or Scale from Settings › Billing, then upgrade, downgrade or switch between monthly and annual billing from the same page. Payment goes through Stripe's secure checkout.
Prerequisites:
- You are the workspace Admin.
- You have a credit or debit card.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Subscribe (free trial or read-only workspace)
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then Billing.
- Under Plans, click Monthly or Annual.
- If you have a promo code, type it in Promo code (optional).
- On the plan you want, click Subscribe.
- If the promo code can't be used, a message under the field explains why, for example "That promo code is not valid". If your trial's first-month offer saves more than the code, Pippify says so and the button changes to Continue to checkout. Click it to go on with the trial offer.
- Stripe's checkout page opens. Enter your card details and pay.
- Back in Pippify, you see Confirming your payment with Stripe…, then "Your subscription is active."
Step 2: Upgrade
- Open Settings › Billing and find Plans.
- Choose Monthly or Annual, then click Upgrade on a higher plan.
- In Confirm plan change, read the charge: you pay today for the rest of the current period at the new price, minus credit for the unused part of your current plan. Your usage so far carries over and the new included volume applies at once.
- Click Change plan. A message confirms "Your plan is now" followed by the plan.
Step 3: Switch from monthly to annual
- Click Annual, then click Switch to annual on your current plan, or Upgrade on a higher plan.
- Read the confirmation: you pay today for a full year at the annual price, minus credit for the unused part of your current period. Your annual term starts today.
- Click Change plan.
Step 4: Downgrade or switch from annual to monthly
- Click Downgrade at renewal on a lower plan, or Switch to monthly at renewal on your current plan.
- In Schedule this change?, read when the change happens: on your renewal date. Until then nothing changes.
- Click Schedule change. A message confirms "Your plan changes to" followed by the plan and date.
- The plan card shows Changes to [plan] [monthly or annual] on [date] with an Undo button.
Step 5: Undo a scheduled change
- On the plan card, click Undo next to Changes to [plan] [monthly or annual] on [date].
- A message confirms "The scheduled plan change was cancelled".
Verify It Worked
Success criteria:
- The plan card shows your new plan and monthly or annual, with the renewal date.
- Your current plan's button shows Current plan.
- A scheduled change shows on the plan card until your renewal date.
Troubleshooting
Common errors
- "Checkout was cancelled. Nothing was charged.": you left Stripe's checkout without paying. Fix: click Subscribe again when you are ready.
- "Stripe is still confirming your payment. This page updates on its own once it does, so there is no need to subscribe again. If nothing changes within a few minutes, contact support.": the payment is still being confirmed. Fix: wait; don't subscribe again.
- "Your last payment is still being confirmed. Refresh Settings > Billing in a minute instead of subscribing again.": a payment from a moment ago is still being confirmed. Fix: refresh the page in a minute.
- "Settle the open invoice before changing plans.": your last payment failed. Fix: update your card first. See How to Update Your Card and Download Invoices.
- "A change to [plan] [monthly or annual] is scheduled for [date]. Undo it to choose another plan.": only one change can be scheduled at a time. Fix: click Undo on the plan card first.
- "Switch to monthly at renewal first, or choose [plan] annual": you can't upgrade from an annual plan straight to a monthly plan. Fix: choose the annual version of the higher plan, or switch to monthly at renewal first.
- "[Plan] allows … users; remove … team members first": the lower plan has a user limit and your workspace has more active users. Fix: suspend team members until you fit, then try again.
- "Your card could not be charged for the prorated amount; update it in the billing portal and try again": the upgrade charge failed. Fix: update your card, then try again.
- "Your subscription cancels on [date]. Undo the cancellation to change plans.": a cancellation is scheduled. Fix: click Undo cancellation first.
Limitations & considerations
- Upgrades and monthly-to-annual switches take effect at once. Downgrades and annual-to-monthly switches wait for your renewal date.
- If you have more users than a lower plan allows when the renewal comes, the downgrade doesn't happen. Pippify emails you and tries again at the next renewal.
- A plan on "(custom plan)" or Billed outside Pippify is changed by support. The page shows Contact support to change your plan. when there is nothing you can choose.
