How to Suspend or Reactivate a User

Summary

Overview: Suspend a team member to stop them signing in to your workspace. Reactivate them later to give their access back. A suspended member keeps their place in the Members table.

Prerequisites:

  • You are the workspace Admin.
  • To reactivate on the Starter plan, you have a free user seat. Settings › Billing shows each plan's user limit.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Users page

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings, then Users.
  2. Find the person in the Members table.

Step 2: Suspend a member

  1. In the member's row, click Suspend.
  2. The Suspend [name]? window says "They lose access immediately. You can reactivate them later."
  3. Click Suspend. To back out, click Cancel.
  4. A message confirms "User suspended". The member's Status changes to Suspended, and the seat count under the Users title goes down by one.
  5. The suspension takes effect at once. If the member is signed in, Pippify refuses their next action and signs them out. A Pippify Coach answer that is already being written still finishes.

Step 3: Reactivate a member

  1. In the suspended member's row, click Reactivate.
  2. A message confirms "User reactivated". The member's Status changes back to Active.
  3. The member signs in again with their usual email and password.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • The Status column shows Suspended or Active as expected.
  • A suspended member who tries to sign in sees a message that their account has been suspended.
  • A suspended member who was signed in is signed out as soon as they do anything in Pippify. See Why Was I Signed Out?

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • Reactivate is faded with a lock and "Your Starter plan includes …": reactivating takes a user seat, and all seats are taken. Fix: suspend someone else, cancel an unused invitation, or upgrade under Settings › Billing.
  • Reactivate is faded with "Your subscription is inactive. Reactivate it under Settings > Billing.": the workspace is read-only. The same sentence shows as a notice at the top of the Users page. Fix: subscribe under Settings › Billing.
  • "Could not suspend this user because the sign-in service refused the request. Please try again or contact support.": the suspend didn't go through. Fix: try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
  • "Could not reactivate this user because the sign-in service refused the request. Please try again or contact support.": the reactivation didn't go through. Fix: try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.

Limitations & considerations

  • You can't suspend yourself. Your own row, marked (you), has no buttons.
  • There is no option to delete a member. Suspend them instead.
  • Suspending someone doesn't move their leads. To give those leads to someone else, an Admin or Sales Manager changes the owner. A suspended member can't be picked as a new owner. See How to Assign, Tag or Export Leads.
  • A suspended member doesn't use a user seat, so suspending someone frees a seat for a new invitation.
  • To invite a suspended person again, reactivate them instead. Pippify refuses a new invitation to a suspended member.
  • Pippify Coach can't suspend or reactivate users. It points you to Settings › Users.
