| Feature Availability | User Permissions | Business Type | Time to Complete | Skill Level |

| All plans and the free trial | Admin only | All business types | About 10 minutes | Intermediate |
Summary
Overview: The mission is Pippin's job description: who it is and what it is trying to achieve. Pippin uses it in every customer-facing reply, in Test Pippin, on voice calls, in follow-up sequence messages and in AI intros. If you don't write one, Pippin uses a built-in mission for your business type.
Prerequisites:
- You are the Admin of the workspace.
- Your business type is set, so the built-in mission matches your business.
How Pippin Decides
- If you saved your own mission, Pippin uses it in place of the built-in one.
- If the mission is empty, Pippin uses the built-in mission for your business type.
- Pippin's other rules (your guidance rules, tone, and what it may promise) still apply on top of the mission.
Limits
- The mission can be up to 1,500 characters.
- A saved mission of your own stays the same if you change your business type. A mission you never changed follows the new business type's built-in text.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the Mission section
- In the left menu, go to Settings › AI Studio.
- Click the Guidance tab.
- Click Mission in the section list on the left.
The box shows your saved mission. If you haven't saved one, it shows the built-in mission for your business type.
Step 2: Write the mission
- Edit the text in the Mission box. Say who Pippin works for and what it should achieve. For example: "You are the sales assistant for Acme Travel. Your job is to answer travel questions, learn the trip details, and help each customer book a Cebu tour package."
- Watch the counter under the box, for example 420/1500.
- To start over from the built-in mission, click Reset to default.
Step 3: Save
- Scroll down and click Save Basics. This button saves the Mission and Voice sections together.
- The message "AI basics saved." appears.
To go back to the built-in mission later, clear the box (or click Reset to default) and click Save Basics.
Step 4 (optional): Ask Pippify Coach
- Open Pippify Coach and ask it to rewrite your mission, for example "Make Pippin's mission focus on booking discovery calls."
- Coach shows a Proposed change card. As the Admin, click Apply to save it, or Dismiss.
Verify It Worked
Success criteria:
- After you reload Settings › AI Studio › Guidance, the Mission box shows your text.
- In Test Pippin, Pippin introduces itself and steers the chat the way your mission says.
Troubleshooting
Common errors
- "Failed to save. Please try again.": the save didn't go through. Fix: check your connection, then click Save Basics again.
- The text stops at 1,500 characters: the box doesn't accept more. Fix: shorten the mission.
Limitations & considerations
- Save Basics saves everything in the Mission and Voice sections at once. Quote settings are on the Quotes tab, which saves on its own.
- The setup wizard doesn't change your mission. Until you write one, Pippin uses the built-in mission for the business type the wizard set.
- If you leave the page without clicking Save Basics, your changes are lost.
