Why Did Coach Refuse My Change?

Summary

Overview: Pippify Coach never changes a setting on its own. When you ask for a change, it shows a Proposed change card, and nothing changes until the Admin clicks Apply. This guide explains each message Coach can show when a change is refused or can't be applied.

Prerequisites:

  • You can open Pippify Coach from the menu.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coach says only the Admin can make the change

Every role can ask Coach questions, but only the Admin can change settings. A Sales Manager or Sales Rep who asks for a change gets an explanation instead of a Proposed change card. If Coach tries the change anyway, the note "Changing configuration needs a workspace admin." appears.

Fix: Ask your Admin to make the change. They can ask Coach for the same change and apply it. See What Each Role Can Do.

The card says "Too old to apply — ask Coach to propose it again."

A proposed change can only be applied for 7 days. After that it expires.

Fix: Ask Coach for the change again, then click Apply on the new card. See How to Apply or Dismiss a Change Coach Suggests.

The card says "These settings changed since this was proposed — ask Coach again."

Someone changed the same settings after Coach made the proposal (on the settings page, or with another proposal). Coach won't overwrite their change.

Fix: Ask Coach again so the new proposal starts from the current settings.

The card says "Applied." or "Dismissed." and Apply is gone

The proposal was already applied or dismissed, possibly by another Admin. Each proposal can be used once.

Fix: Nothing to fix. Ask Coach again if you want a different change.

The card says "That change couldn't be applied. Try asking Coach again."

The change was refused when you clicked Apply. One known cause is asking for Full auto on a plan below Growth: Full auto is a Growth plan and up feature. A read-only workspace also can't apply plan features.

Fix: Check that your plan includes the setting (see Why a Feature Is Locked and What Read-Only Means), then ask Coach again. You can also make the change on the settings page, which shows the exact reason. See How to Choose Quotes or Meetings and the Automation Level.

Coach said it can't connect Gmail, SMS, Facebook, a calendar or invite a user

Coach can't do anything that needs you to sign in to another account or enter a secret key. That includes connecting Gmail or Zoho Mail, SMS, voice, Messenger, Facebook Lead Ads, calendar keys, and inviting or removing users. Coach explains the steps and names the settings screen to use instead.

Fix: Open the settings screen Coach names (for example Settings › Channels for Gmail, Zoho Mail, SMS, voice or Messenger) and follow its steps. See What Coach Can Look Up and Change.

Coach said the values I asked for aren't valid

Coach checks a change before it shows the card. For example, a list attribute needs at least two values, the hot threshold must be higher than the warm threshold, and the sending window can't start and end at the same time. Coach tells you what to fix in its answer.

Fix: Ask again with different values. See How to Set Up Lead Scoring and How to Set Hot and Warm Thresholds.

The card says "Couldn't dismiss that just now."

Coach couldn't save your Dismiss.

Fix: Try again. If the card already shows "Applied." or "Dismissed.", it was already handled.

Coach says "Coach couldn't finish that answer."

Coach stopped before finishing its reply.

Fix: Send your message again, or start a New chat.
